I had the original speaker for my 1960 reconed but it still does not work. When I installed a non-original replacement speaker the sound was fine. What else should be checked on the speaker? Also, any recommendations for a speaker repair service. Thanks.

Re: C-1 Radio Speaker
The original speaker does have the transformer. I connected it directly to the wiring harness which is new. To test the non-original speaker, I used alligator clips. Is there a way to test the transformer?- Top

Re: C-1 Radio Speaker
Send it back to the person who did the re-cone job for you. You don't know whether the problem lies with the integrity of the matching components (transformer/inductor + resistor) or with the lead wires attached to the speaker's magnet. Re-cone jobs HAVE to be tested prior to shipment, so it sounds to me like you've got a warranty issue here...- Top

A few years ago, he did mine for ~$50. I believe that transformer on the side is important. Operating the radio with a broken or missing transformer could screw up the radio.- Top
