    65 Cluth Rod Boot - Clay-like Putty

I just replaced the clutch rod boot on the firewall of my 65. The boot is the first design with the two mounting ears and the metal retainer. On the original boot, there was some black clay-like putty covering the metal retainer. Does anyone have a picture or advice on how much of the clay-like putty to use so the boot looks like the original installation?

get a box of 3M strip-caulk, pn 08578. about 1/16" thick between boot and firewall. the strips can be thinned out easily.mike

Thanks Mike, I will get the 3m product and use it for the sealant.
