    Gas Station Shut Downs

I am planning a business trip to Florida on Monday. Here in Charlotte, panic buying has caused about every other station to close. Could some of our members in Jacksonville, Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale give me an update on gas situations in those areas. Thanks

Jimmy, If you are still driving that white rocket, you NEED this question answered! I too am traveling next week to Charleston, SC and if you watched CNN last week, they were reporting $5.00 plus prices on regular and you know we need the good stuff.

My usual BP station here in Clover, SC was .30 higher than another BP 2 miles up the road. My 12MPG 2500HD used to be a pretty good customer, but I think I am going to pass him by for a while. I understand the dealers are sometimes told what to charge by the distributors, but .30 seems a large variance for same brand. I wish someone with first hand knowledge would comment as to pricing.

      Jimmy,

Go to http://www.jacksonvillegasprices.com/ you can check the "message forums" radio button at the top of the page for information about closed stations. this information is posted by volunteer spotters, so consider that when processing their information.

There are similar sites for Tampa and the state of Florida. There are also state and metro sires all around the country and in parts of Canada. Something like 150 or so sites in all.

Same problem over here in east Tennessee. About half have none and most of the other half jumped prices about $1.30 in less than 24 hours. Shell is $4.99 for regular. Lines are gone though.

Wayne in west Tn the gas is $3.99 for reg today at Shell, BP the same. What I find unusual is that EXXON is less than both at $3.76. In the past EXXON has always been higher.
