Tach test C2

I am not sure of how accurate the cable drve tach (original) is on my '66 BB.
I tried to hook up an electronic tach test-meter, the usual way as you would on a points distributor, but, my car has the transistor ignition and it wont work. Has anyone ever found a way to connect an electronic tach to a TI setup?? I would also want to use the tach testmeter to map the distributor too. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You might want to talk to Dave Fiedler (www.tispecialty.com) , the T.I. "guru"; he can probably help you. I recall a caution from GM in the Shop Manual that using the wrong type of test equipment can damage the T.I. amplifier.

Many of the newer timing lights have a tachometer mode, so you could avoid the TI problem that way.

By the way, you are wise to test the accuracy of your tach. I recently tested mine and found it was reading about 15% low. Not a good thing if you like to periodically run your engine out to the indicated redline.
