Re: Marvin Burnett 73-77 National Team Leader

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news. Marvin was the first team leader I met when first joining the NCRS. He continually inspired and encouraged me to get involved with judging and the national conventions.

My deepest sympathies to Joan and family.

We, too, were saddened to hear of Marvin's death. We saw him at Bend last weekend. He exemplified one of the greatest compliments I can give -- he was truly a gentle man. God bless him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joan.

I only worked with Marvin once last year in Waco. I saw him at a lot of other meets.
My first reaction to him and his demeanor was: What a kind and gentle man.
He seemed very happy working his hobby.
Our prayers go out for him and his family.

I met Marvin at the first Judge's Retreat. He seemed to be one of the kindest, most gentle men I'd ever met. My father had taught my brother and me to respect true, gentle, men. I saw Marvin at Carlisle this year and said hello, he recognized me but apologized for not remembering my name. I said it was more telling that I remembered his! He laughed and said he couldn't see why.
It really is all about the PEOPLE you meet because of the cars.
            Peace Marvin.

If anybody has a photograph of Marvin, please post it. I believe I met him just this year at Carlisle, and would like to confirm. If I'm right, he was a very kind, and warm, helpful person.
My prayers for the family. Ridge.

I've known Marvin for many years, and spoke with he and Joan at Carlisle last month. He will surely be missed by all, both as a person and as an NCRS member.

I have known Marvin from the time he became Team Leader and I would bring 73 Corvettes for him and his team to judge. I will miss having such a great man who I have judged with for many years. Marvin and Joan were good friends of ours. We enjoyed many times going to new restaurants after the days regional judging ended. He will be greatly missed. Joan our prayers are with you and your family.

We'll all certainly miss Marvin Burnett. Marvin was the key to my involvement in NCRS (and the Corvette hobby) after I met him at my first Joplin Regional in 1990. His calm encouragement and friendship are one of the reasons I've become active in NCRS. Even though I would see Marvin only a few times a year, he always seemed close. Judy and I will miss his presence at Regionals, Nationals, and Road tours but will always count on seeing Joan.

Marvin's passing is a true loss for NCRS and a tremendous loss for Joan. Please keep Joan in your prayers.
I am especially grateful now that I had the opportunity to spend time with Joan and Marvin before and during the National Convention. To echo others, Marvin was a gentleman's gentleman, a loving husband and a true Corvette enthusiast. He will be missed.
