C1 Engine Gaskets

I am having a machine shop rebuild my 283 for my 245HP 1960 and he wants to use Felpro gaskets.

Need to know which ones I should buy separately from Paragon.

The Felpro kit they will use has the thicker composition type head gaskets so I bought the Felpro shim type thin gaskets which I have heard should judge correctly. Not sure if many judges look for this though.

Other than the intake manifold gaskets which I will buy separately, are there others I should change out from the kit ? The JM does not seem to refer to any other gaskets.

Any specific colors or material for the valve cover gasket, thermostat housing, timing cover and water pump ?

Mark, For a start you will need the correct intake gaskets with the GM end rubbers that have the GM logo on them. Fel-Pro and re-Pro (rhymes) won't pass judging. I believe your intake gaskets do not have the camel hump on them. I think that hump may be flat on top. John D.

John - any idea where I can get that correct intake gasket ? I have seen postings where the Paragon gasket was used and the GM tabs were cut off the old gasket and glued on. Is that the only option I have ? If so, any idea where I can find an old gasket with the GM tabs ?

Are the gaskets the same for the single and dual carb manifolds ?
