    Battery tray for ''66 non-A/C; who makes "correct" repro

    I saw an e-bay auction (item # 230291461884) today for a reproduction battery tray for '66 non-A/C cars that the seller claims is "exactly like the original, cannot tell the difference." Does anyone know who makes that tray? The original on my '66 is non-restorable and I've never been able to find a good original that was pristine.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Gary,

    Probably try Paragon or Corvette Central for a complete kit. I looked up that ebay item, and it looked like it was only the base for a 63-66, no bolts or holddown frame.

    Your battery tray probably looks like the one I took off my 67:

    The 67 is different than 66 and prior. I replaced this one with a kit from Corvette Central. Everything was correct except the bolts and head markings. So save your original bolts, as you know we can do a lot in restoration of original bolts.

    Also, if you are going to continue with lead/acid batteries, you might consider one of those anti-acid battery mats. You can't really see them.

    Regards, maybe I'll see you up in Elk Grove next week.

      Battery tray for ''66 non-A/C;

      Jerry,

      My tray wasn't as bad as yours, but my attempts at restoring it didn't result in something I'm happy with. I have an NOS top frame and shield that I had tack welded like the original, so it's just the lower tray I need. When I looked about 5 years ago none of the repros were close enough to correct. Maybe that's changed.
