I have consulted the archives as well as the AIM and still cannot find a clear answer as to which P/N voltage regulator I need. My '63 was assmebled in late July (VIN#20654). Should I have a 1119512 or a 1119515 voltage regulator? Would a 1119512 dated 3F pass judging?

Re: 1963 Voltage Regulator
My recollection is the '63 AIM only calls out the '512 regulator with the '64 AIM calling for the '515 regulator. If my memory is correct, then the change happened when designers were releasing drawings to support the next model year (1964) and those started 'dribbling' out in the April/May timeframe of the current model year.
That would imply both of the parts ('512 and '515) would have been in house toward the end of 1963 production and may have been freely substituted based on what level of inventory was on-hand... Generally, if there's something 'hard' known about the transition of a given running change, it's discussed in the JG book.- Top
