Can anyone explain to me what the new paint judging standards entail? Any help here will be greatly appreciated.

They are not new standards, it just puts a logical method of determining deductions.

When did this logical method go into effect? Is this something new or has this flowchart been around for awhile? Did your judges use it at last spring's Monroe meet?

Peter, Check with you chapter Judging Chairman. He should be able to get you the a "Flow Chart".
Nothing new, just explains the judging standard on paper

If memory serves, the "Flowchart" formalizing the decision making process has been in effect for a couple of years. For clarity and judging uniformity, a seminar was dedicated to the topic during the Marlborugh Convention in 2007 at which time copies of the Flowcharts were passed out for general use.
Likewise with the Judges Retreat this year.

According the Judging Reference Manual, the percentages were adopted in the winter of 2005. I do remember first hearing Roy's explanation in the judging school at Wildwood, NJ, in May 2005.

Peter, John Ballard did an excellent presentation at our Carolina Chapter meet judging school a couple of weeks ago on the flow chart.
