69 Backup Light Connector?

Someone in the past disconnected my backup lights. I found the L shaped green and pink connector under my dash wrapped up.
My question is, does the connection to the trans switch happen inside or outside the car? Where does the wiring enter the car? Through the firewall or trans tunnel?

The transmission switch has a long pigtail which ends with the "L"-shaped male connector you describe. The pigtail runs from the trans switch up the DRIVER side of the firewall and connects to a female "L"-shaped connector at the end of a wire pair which goes through one of the holes in the "4 hole" grommet which also includes holes for the speedometer cable and oil pressure line. The length of wire pair from the firewall to the connector is about 6-8" on the engine side of the firewall.

Perfect! That is exactly what I needed to know.
I just removed my whole dash, shifter console and everthing else in the interior to make some repairs, and that was my only head scratching item...
