    Sal,

The washer pump should be making a noticeable racket when you push the washer switch with the windshield wipers on.

Here's a few pictures of my 67 washer pump disassembled:

    Overall:

    Front

    Back

Not sure exactly how it works, but I think the when you push the switch, it energizes the eloctromagnet in the top picture. This then pulls a lever which puts it in gear with the wiper motor. In gear it pumps the bellows against spring action. It only goes around a few times and then the lever falls into position and it goes out of gear.
    (Clear as mud, heh)

If you want to test the switch, see if you are getting any voltage from the connector that goes to the two lugs in the top picture, when you push the switch, it should be only a momentary jolt.

If you are getting voltage when you push the switch, and it is not pumping, then maybe it is the electromagnet or something mechanical inside the pump mechanism. It should make a noticeable clicking when the bellows is pumping.

    Good Luck,

      Re: windshield washer-also

      Sal,

If you remove the washer pump from the wiper motor assembly, make sure that the drive pin in the motor assembly is lined up and engages the cam slot in the rotor cam of the pump when you reassemble. (See the plastic rotor cam in the last picture)

If that rotor cam is broken the pump is not going to pump.

There are other pictures in my 67 service manual, should be also in the one for your year.

Time to invest in a support library for 'baby'...

The WS wiper and washer repair and diagnostic information is contained in the 1963 Corvette Shop Manual for '63-65 cars. There's a nice section dedicated to on-car and on-bench trouble shooting for both the wiper and washer sections of the system. I suggest you need that information...

One thing the tech literature points out regarding the washer is to insure the dash switch is firmly and properly connected to the instrument cluster because that's the point of ground reference for the washer to actuate!
