    Alternator Stamps for 67

Does anyone make the stamps for the alternator diodes so that they can be re-applied? Thanks.

I highly recommend you send the unit to John Pirkle. Well worth the money and everything will be right.

Anyone have his address, or are you out there John? I will do it this winter while the car sits. Thanks.

His number is 706-860-9047. I am not sure if he will do just the stamps if your alternator is already restored. Best to have a discussion with him.

          Kirk,
I don't know the size of the stamp but it is very small. I had John Pirkle restore my alternator and here is a photo using the macro on my camera.

Kirk -- whatever route you decide to take, make sure that the final result is a crisp stamping of the correct font, size, inter-line spacing, appropriate date prior to alt assy., etc. The autoload pic is of the +ve (red) diodes on an unrestored 5_G_7 (July 5th 1965) 42 amp alternator. The thumbnail is of an NOS assortment of negative (black) diodes dated 5L04, 6D11, 6D13, 6D19, 6E27, 6F02, 6F06.

I also have a dozen NOS Motorola neg diodes dated in the same timeframe, and these also carry the number '423'. As they don't show the number '466' that the Delco's have, I'm thinking that the latter # is the manufacturer, and the '423' versus '380' is negative vs. positive designator.

              Wayne,
Your photo is outstanding! Did you take the photo with the alternator off the car? Mine was taken with the alternator on the car and struggled to get my shot.
