Re: Colours for 60 Vette resto

Like I said, this car is a client's car; I don't have an enormous amount of time to read a ton of books, attend Corvette events, etc., to find information that in turn will be charged to this customer; that is why I bought the three books that were recommended to have everything I needed for a concourse restoration, but they all fall short and this is recognized by other forum members. I have reference books for other brands of Muscle cars I restore that have quick reference's to the detailing of every part, nut, bolt, torque specs, etc., on a classic car. I am surprised that this information is not readily available in these otherwise excellent publications.

I do appreciate the help from the forum.

      James,
I have email'ed you a copy of the article I wrote on the paint finishes you will need for all of the car's components. This is the article that was published in the Restorer a few years ago.
I believe that along with the 1958-60 Judging Reference Manual which you can order from the NCRS office, and a Chilton's or Motors automotive manual to compliment the Corvette AIM you should have all of the information as to colors, installation, tork specs that you have requested.
As in any restoration you will have numerous running questions that the members of this board will be more than happ to assist.

      Semper Fi,
      Richard

Dont sweat the torques. Those that are important are in the repair manual, and everything else can be determined from published torque guides that are published everywhere. Just google torque specifications and see what comes up. It aint rocket science. You probably would not even see an old timer using a torque wrench except for some engine stuff.

Line #1 (180 per hour) and Line #2 (120 per hour) both fed the hot-test area, which then fed the paint booth at 300 engines per hour, or 12 seconds per engine; two guys outside the booth did the pre-masking, four guys in the booth sprayed, and two guys outside the other end of the booth did the de-masking. Hardly conducive to "concours" paint quality.
