Original 67 Trim Rings

What should I be looking for if I want to track down four original rally wheel trim rings for my 67. Ebay has trim rings all over the place in all types of sizes and I'm not sure I trust some the descriptions. So, what is the correct size for my 67? I believe the originals had only four clips on the rear. Is that correct? Thanks.

There are 4 clips and one clip lines up with the valve stem hole as pictured.

Hi Kirk:

Rick Smith's photo pretty much says it all. There are also some versions where the valve stem opening is less "oval" than the one in Rick's photo, and these are incorrect. I think these versions may be for C3 cars and are made for wider wheels, but I'm not certain.

There was a good article on trim rings in the summer 07 Restorer. It goes over the evolution of the clips, the different "oval" shapes for the valve stem hole, etc.

It makes a good guide for the purchase of a set of rings.

Also note, the three clips in Rick's photo are the same width.
Some repops have a significantly wider center clip.

i received 2 sets with my 67 project car but haven't unwrapped them yet. I'll check to see if they are both original ones.
