Perhaps Reba or Terry will reply, I know they had a repro and were trying to find an original to compare it to at the Nationals in St. Louis. Just the other day I visited my local u-pull it and came acroos a 72 Nova with the label on the visor. All it took was a gentle pull and it peeled off perfectly. A little dirty and stained but I think I'll try to clean it up and apply it to my 72. They are out there, Good Luck,

    Kevin

For the record this label came off a Dec. 71 built Nova

I believe that Dr Rebuild has those in his catalog.

Sorry, Kevin, the one from the Nova has a different part number and is missing the date which is on the Corvette one.

Terry and I could not find an original at the national to compare. Perhaps he will bring it to Waco and we can do so there.

I can bring it to Waco -- of course I'll have to remember to do that. Then we will have to see what cars show up.

The consensus at St. Louis was that what I have is a reproduction, in spite of the insistence of the person who gave it to me.

            Terry ---

I have the original on my car, be happy to let you'all compare at Waco next week.

Hopefully me and the car will survive the drive ---

Great Bill -- Now I WILL have to remember to bring it. Sounds like a chance for a photo op.

              Safe journey to you.

Reba, That's interesting, I really need to see the Corvette label. Here's a link to a previous thread, scroll down and check out Dave Stickland's photo. He's is also incorrect? It shows the same part number as the one I found on the Nova.

Terry can you check the part number on the one you have?

Re: Label On Visor For Starting Instructions

There is a sentence in the judging manual that says:
At least one car built in early November has a label with part number 6263563 and no date.

We were not sure of its originality. If another one has been found, no one ever called it to our attention when the revision was done.

The one we usually see is dated November 23, 1971.

Dave, what is the date of your car?

The one that you have is printed by a company in GA whose name escapes me now. I looked it up in his catalog at the time, and the part number on the envelope is his number.

The material differs somewhat from the original on the repro's

Dick -- I take it you are talking about the one I have because I remember your comments about that number on the back. That was the basis for my earlier comment that the consensus was what I have is a reproduction. I thought it was that from the beginning, but the person who gave it to me believed otherwise so strongly I thought it worthwhile to try to find an original to compare it to.

Now if only we can get good photos in Waco --

I will bring a few originals with me to Waco as they were on 73's also. Any rare 73 part I bought up before they got rare and when nobody wanted shark parts.

Maybe we can do a little show & tell on them for the advanced judging school.
