    Powdercoating in North Carolina

Anyone know of a powdercoater in the middle part of the state in or around Winston-Salem? Wanting to have my wheels done.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Craig Willetts

    Craig:

It's been several years since I visited their facility, but there is a company in Winston Salem called Salem Coatings that bid on coating some furniture components for us. The man that we worked with told me that they did some car parts at that time. I'm not sure if they still do, but it may be worth a call.

If this does not work out, I have heard of a good powder coater in Lexington that alot of the street rodders are sending parts to. I can try to get their number on Monday from one of the guys at work that has used them if you'd like.

      Hello Todd,

The last time I checked Salem Coatings was out of business. They did several items for me on my 61 a few years back. If you can locate the other number let me know.

The show was good. Lots of nice cars and plenty of parts. I did find a NOS fuel gauge and a decent #131 headlight switch. My car was Top Flighted again with a score of 98.2. Judges were tough but fair. Lots of great people there. You and Cindy should really consider doing a Survivor Meet with your car. All of us would enjoy judging a well preserved car such as yours. There was a fellow there from Mississippi who brought his Survivor 1953 up and had it Second Flighted. It was only 1 of 2 1953's ever awarded the Survivor Award at Bloomington. Something special to see.

Well I will be on my way to Raleigh tomorrow night. If you want to meet I will be passing through around 7:30. Let me know.

      Cheers,
      Craig

There are some places in Asheboro. A Google search will give you 3. I know a local shop here sends stuff there, but I don't know to which one.

          Craig:

Congrats on the Top Flight! Im glad you had a good show. Sounds like they had a good swap meet too. I hate that show falls so close to Furniture Market - I was working in the showroom yesterday getting ready for the opening today.

I called a friend to see if I can get a lead on the shop in Lexington, and he is working on getting a number for you. There is another shop that my dad has visited here in Greensboro that builds Cobras and offers powder coating services:

At some point, I woud like to have our '64 judged just to see how it would do. Perhaps sometime we could get together and make a punch list of things to be addressed based on your experience having your '64 judged.

I'll give you a call later about getting together to pick up the parts. I now have a Furniture Market function that will keep me from meeting you tomorrow night, but we'll arrange something that works for later this week.

            Craig:

I did a web search and Unique Coatings in High Point popped out. They're at 309 New Street, (336) 841-1811. David Brown is your contact. There are several others listed also.

I found two good ones near Raleigh, but I can't remember thier names. I don't powder coat my parts, but I have thier cards somewhere. One is in Fuquay, and one in Cary. If you can't find anyone let me know and I'll go through my stack of cards and find them.
