They had done a lot of cars and the way they make it will fit both. For what it is worth I also spoke with Romeo , and he also only makes one carpet for both auto and 4 speed cars.

$10 says they make it to fit an auto (narrower floorpan) and you have to tolerate the fit when you put it in a 4 speed car.

I can tell you from experience that there is a difference between auto and manual carpets on the passenger side as Terry said. The first replacement set I put in many years ago did not fit at all in the very area Terry indicated. I lived with it for years and then bought a set from Romeo Engineering who swore that they would fit perfectly. They didn't but I thought it was something I had done so I left it alone. Last spring, in preparation fot the Novi regional, I called Al Knock and talked to him. He advised me that there was a difference and he agreed to sell me just a passenger side for my automatic equipped '69. It fit perfectly.

        Yep.
He accidentally sent me the 4 speed set for Dad's 72 when I placed an order. There was no way it was going to fit! I called them and rather than split a set, Al told me that was too much work and sent me set for the whole front of the car!

Any auto set will "fit" in a 4 speed but it's very, very difficult to get a 4 speed set into an automatic. Sorta like stuffing my size 12EE feet into size 10 shoes. I can do it, but...

So the consensus is to use Al Knoch for the carpet. I liked the idea of the new carpet with the jute and foil backing on it already. Has anyone use the Dynamat in a C3?

I have not used Dynamat but I did use a product called Reflectix which is a foil backed insulation. It is sort of like bubble wrap with foil on both sides. I found it convenient to buy at Lowes and easy to install under the carpet. It does a good job reducing road noise and heat from the engine compartment. All in all I am very pleased with its performance.

I bought from Al for my 69 with a 4 speed and it fit like a glove.

                Re: Mid America carpet

It seems to be a bit of a stretch from a situation involving a passenger side carpet to a general assessment about 'the quality of their products'. If anyone / everyone would like to talk to Kenny Yager (Mike's brother) he can be reached at 217 540-4268. He is aware of the two versions of carpet and would like to hear from some of our members on the subject. It may not resolve this issue but now you have a name and number for feedback.
