    '65 L79 engine components

    I'm slowing working on a '65 convertible L79 project. I have a bare
block and 461 heads, but now I need the cam, crank, and pistons
(among other things). Can someone give me some specific recommendations on available L79 parts to buy for my cam, crank and pistons?

    Thanks,
    Tony

Are you building the L79 engine as a driver or one to be shown for the most NCRS judging points?
There are several posts in the archives on where to get a L79 cam. Believe NAPA was one.
Other posts mention good information on getting updated/new rods.

I'm not sure what judging has to do with internal parts?

Do I want to drive it? of course.
Do I want to have the option of having it judged? Yes.

I looked through the archives, but didn't find exactly what I am looking for.

You can probably find nearly everything you need in the Federal Mogul Sealed Power OE replacement and Speed Pro parts line at www.napaonline.com beginning with the L2166 pistons and CS179R camshaft.

You will need to find a used 2680 crankshaft, and I think 4577 is also a 327 crank forging.

Google Eagle connecting rods, download their catalog and look at the SIR small bearing cap screw rods.

If you want maximum performance, head work is in order. Target a true CR of about 10.25:1. Various aspects of managing an engine restoration, and valuable reference sources have been discussed in great detail over the past ten years and are in the archives.
