C2 bumpers
my 65 bumpers are too far gone to be replated so off to the store for new ones ... my question is which are better quality the american made or the china made i have been told the china made are of a higher quality chrome finish is this so ???? there is also quite a difference in price > thanks Don

In my experience with replacement parts, what you get form China are cr#%. Fit is generally bad and overall quality suffers about the same. For bumpers, I've dealt with Tri-City Plating in TN and was completely satisfied. You may want to call them ((423) 542-6532) and see if you can buy a set outright without a core. Just my $.02Frank

Typical repop bumpers are made of a thinner gauge material and can be detected during judging.
Purchase a set of used originals and have them replated if you plan on judging for maximum points......Comment

In deciding to replace your original bumpers, have you taken them to a re-chrome shop? I've seen completely mangled & rusted through originals, nicely repaired via straightening + drilling/grinding and weld filling areas of rust through. AND, the total cost was still less than purchasing new/replacements...Comment
