    Real 4346

What do you think, is this a real 4346 fuel pump.

      Hi Ed,
The owner states in answering a question that there is no AC on the bottom cover. An original pump would have this marking on the bottom cover.I also believe that the AC shown at the inlet port is also not correct.
I think a judge would give a small deduct for this pump.

        Hi Ed,
I also failed to mention that the side bolts are much to long.

Ed, ALSO The tapped hole in the center section appears to be 3/8 " pipe thread. Should be 1/4 " There is also a debossed part # on the center section It is 1538354 (just to the right of the outlet hole).

Two other things that bother me, but I am not sure about them.

            1. I sort of expect to see a casting seam around the mounting flange (where the 4346 number is). I have seen two known originals, and both had this flange casting seam.

            2. The size of the 4346 looks bigger to me that others I have seen.

Still not sure, but leaning towards a "restoration" 4346.

Ed, you're leaning in the right direction

The one on my 58 has flush bolts, marking on top of flange A C is smaller than shown. AC on bottom. 1538354 stamped on main body.casting # is on forward half of seam on mounting bracket.and is half the size of what is shown in pictuee.

                  Hi Ed,
Just recently the fuel pump on my 57 (bowtie car) gave up after 50 years.
I was able to take many pictures while I had it out. Will post a few showing the #4346 pump.

I stand corrected, after crawling under my 57, and scraped away the grease, I found the "AC" on the bottom, sorry about that!

the inlet brass fitting on your pump doesn't appear to be the hex 45 degree fitting used on all the 57's etc. perhaps the photo is deceiving me. can you post a picture of the fitting from different angles?mike

When I removed my 57 fuel pump I found grade 3 bolts with TR head markings. Can you tell me what the head markings are on your fuel car.
                          Thanks Dave

Ed, That ebay master cylinder was discussed today by Barry Holmes at Pittsburgh chapter judging seminar (we judged a 94). Anyhow the one on ebay is a fake. Not the real deal. Pass on it. John

Mike..I will try and get some more pictures posted from another angle...however since this engine came out of an Eb Rose / Carroll Shelby driven former 57 factory race car it is possible that the fuel line and fitting may have been changed.

Smokey liked to move the fuel line to the outside of the frame rail. The original 4346 is also in the Nassau car. When time permits I will photograph that one too.
