    C1 Air Cleaner Wingnuts

Has anyone found a source that is making a correct wingnut for the '58 - '60s? I've looked on line and it looks like there are a few manufacurers of wingnuts out there. Before I go and start ordering from each one I thought I'd find out if someone has already done the homework. I know they're looking for the one below in judging and the paragon or CC ones are too narrow on the wings. Thanks to the poster for the pics.

    Hey, Ted,

I would check out hardware stores. I've bought wingnuts just like the one you have pictured many times before at hardware stores. Larry

      Larry,

The correct one is the center one in this picture. The ones I've found so far at harware stores are like the one on the right. This is what you get if you order from CC or Paragon also. Have you been able to find ones like in the center? Notice that the wings are longer and wider. Thanks Ted

Roy, It looks correct, but it's kind of hard to tell since I don't have dimensions or the comparison to the current repros. I think the one in the first picture looks slightly different than the second photo. I have read the originals have "notches". I'm not sure if they mean the tips being cut at an angle on the wings or something else. Do you know?

I'm trying to get a higher top flight on the '58 so I'm after every point I can get. I'm planning on going for Duntov with it. Thanks, Ted

I have no idea about the "notched" 100 people have different ideas about wing nuts, what I have is what you showed .GM was supplied from not one but other suppliers also for parts. But it dont matter / follow the JM not what others may think going for top flight.

I see others going for $200.00 or 300.00 so I'm willing to take a thank you and you can have what I have (TWO). If the price sounds to high (FREE) then don't send me your address! 55copper@ono.net

Roy, I tried to send a couple of emails and I'm getting an message return error. I sent two late last week and they seemed to go through. The error I'm getting now is:

                  Recipient: <55copper@ono.net>
                  Reason: User unknown

Just checking to see if you got my emails. Thanks, Ted
