54 Peculiar Powerglide Puke

I have been experiencing leaks from my 54 Powerglide trans, and a peculiar "puke" out of the dipstick tube. Upon cold starting, it will occasionally leak out about a pint of fluid through the dipstick tube. I have checked the fluid level carefully, and it will still pump out fluid now and then. I have heard others recommend starting the engine with the trans in neutral, which seems to resolve the issue, but I want to fix the issue, rather than find a way around it.

Any suggestions?

I hear people ask that question over and over> 99% of the time it's the filter seal leaking AIR , It's ether loose , torn , or a harden seal .where the filter TWO screws come loose or the seal is bad.
It's a easy fix removing the dip stick cover plate R/S , good luck.

Also the tube stick seal has the same problem (leaking oil)!!

Yes a no brainier, usually you can re-use the cover gasket just add some sealer but if the seal is bad you need to locate one for the filter and stick tube O-ring. I may have them if you do it.
PS: all 6 or 8 PG is the same any year cast iron PG
