'69 Rear Diff Stampings. Shift? W?

Does the rear diff stampings for a '69 alway have to have the shift number and the W? My rearend has the ratio code and date stamping, but that's it. Is this normal?

If you have the numbers. I can tell the date it was made and the Ratio. W indicates the Plant it was made. W is typical.

On midyears it's not uncommon for the diff stamp not to have either the "W" (for Chevrolet-Warren) or the "E" (for Eaton Posi unit), or both, although the ratio code and date are always there.
