    John, the 64AIM calls for a lock washer - was this changed in the 65/66 AIM or was the part number I pulled off the AIM wrongly marked?

      Alan -

      The AIM calls it a lockwasher, and that term was used for both split lockwashers and internal and external-tooth star washers; the 121753 "lockwasher" is an external-tooth star washer, and was used on all '63-'67 ballast resistor attachments.

        John, Is this star washer captive on the screw or does it slip on and off?
        I think I have the correct screw for the ballast on my 67 but the star washer is gone.

          Tim;

          Sorry I owe you a response about that star washer. I checked mine yesterday as I said I would and it is captive. I would not call it crimped as if you were to hold the washer in a vice or plyers, perhaps you could turn the screw out from it. I had to tell you that as I did take a chance and remove it one more time just so I could report back what I found. And yes, I did get it back "ugh" tight one more time.

          I also noticed that I have two more flat "slot head" screws into the firewall just down from the ballast resistor and to either side. The heads are about the same diameter. Does any one else have these and know what they are for? I don't recall using them to mount anything to in the past, but I may have. I suspect they hold something that's on the inside, but I didn't investigate further.

            Thanks Stu,

            I appreciate the info. I need to find the correct screw and star washer for my 67.

              The #121753 star washer was separate from the screw, although 40 years later it may appear to have been originally captured on the screw.

                Guess you're probably right John. Mine may have some residue probably from the fiberglass and paint that has kind of made them one over time (screw and washer), but I just wasn't about to test it as it holds fine and seems to be correct. Sorry if my verbage may have led you astray Tim.
