    Hi Roy
Doesn't look like you are getting much response.
I will try and post a few pictures from my 57 bowtie car.
I know the top has been replaced but I believe the pads, header weatherstrip and window weatherstrip was left intact.Let me know what you think or if you need more pictures.
Only problem with bowtie is it is pass or fail and you may not know what items passed or failed.

Dave! that's exactly what I'm talking about, your lucky they saved and used it. You rarely will see another one on a (restored Corvette.) You're's has been mod just a little and as you see you cant even see the screws holding it on because of the filler and one piece at the 90% Window weatherstripping and it has a spongy feel. The skin covering is thin and shinny .It's good that the JM don't judge it because of all the people having the wrong one installed!
      Thanks so much
I see you even have the right soft top latch that is tapered

From asking the same question on CF forum posted this original 1958 soft top ,something you will rarely ever see on restored Corvettes 56 to 59 , you can even see the round filler that covers the screws and the 90 degree cloth covered top front window piece area. Most people don't even know what the original looks like because again it's not judged.
I've always found vary little interest about parts if it's not being judged , but some day

So you see I'm not just interested in 55's

              Roy,
I think you make some good points, but I think the issue with this area of the soft top at this time is like the casting dates on the heads. If you can't see them, you can't judge them. I would agree that asking the owner of the car to unlatch the top so this area could be judged would be the same as asking them to open the doors, trunk etc. It would also serve as a good operations check. Easier access to the top storage area would provide more judging inspection opportunities as well.

If you show your car with the soft top and are asked to unlatch everything so that it can be judged properly, then what do you do with those that show with a hardtop? I am certainly no expert in the ways that these rules are derived, but it does give pause to some of your thoughts on items like this. Can someone tell us why it's this way? Curious minds want to know.
              Thanks.

To unlatch the top so this area could be judged doesn't seem to me to be a big deal ,after all they judge the window weatherstripping , no need to fold it down ! Those that know what to look for near the corners can tell any way and should be included in the JM. It would help owners to realize why their tops leaks. At the cost it takes to restore a soft top NCRS would be helping people by requiring it being judged so that it's done right . They require 53-54 owners to remove the engine shielding to check the Dist plate date. There are so many obvious things that are not judged !
But this is only my opinion or 2 cents
