Need help in identifying correct alternator for 1969 L46

I need some help in indentifying the correct Alternator for my car.

1969 350/350 non AC and non TI. It is also a very late December 69 car.

Chevrolet by the numbers lists the following for 1969 Corvette:

1100825 61 Amp or mag pulse
    1100859 42 Amp 350 base unit
    1100881 42 Amp 2nd production
    1100882 61 Amp 2nd production

I'm assuming 1100881 but found an alternator on e-bay listed as late 69 with a date of November 7 69 assembly date. 1100900

With production ending late in December 1969, and my car built the last day of production, I was curious if the November built 1100900 would be correct (in contradiction to Chevrolet by the numbers)

Corvette Black Book lists 1100900 for 1969 with the disclaimer (uncertain usage)

    Thanks

The JG lists the 1100859 as the correct alternator for your application with a footnote that the 1970 MY 1100900 alternator was seen occasionally from July 69 until the end of production.

Obviously the judging guide is as good as it's going to get for authentification, but you would think that if the 42 Amp alternator in 69 had a second production run of 1100881, that it would apply to a last day production car.

      Curious indeed.

I can tell you that the 1100859 was being used as late as mid-September, 1969 for 42 amp applications. My feeling would be that the 1100881 would likely have been the one used on your car. However, the 1100900 manufactured on November 7, 1969 had to have been used on something. I doubt they kept it around for 2 months waiting for the 1970 model year Corvettes and the 1100900 was not used for any other applications besides Corvette. So, the 1100900 could very well have been used for very late 1969 applications. There is absolutely no functional reason why it could not have been so-utilized.

The 1969-71 Corvette alternators are among the most difficult of ALL Corvette generators or alternators to find. Not only are the part numbers unique to Corvettes but the configuration of the alternator cases halves, front and rear, are also unique.

Well with that November 69 rebuild "1100900" case being up over $250 with 2 days left, it makes my choice easier.

Although knowing my luck, a correctly dated 1100881 is likely just as scarce.

          Which leads to another question:

What's the average preceeding date on Alternators. 30-60 days max?

The 1100900 on E-bay is probably perfect, but $300 for a casing is hard to swallow.

            John,

My November 17 1969 built 435HP has the 1100884 alternator dated 9J5 (September 5th)...be glad you don't need one of these! $$$$$
Also the JG states the 1100900 is seen sporadically on original 1969 cars from July of 1969 to the end of the 1969 production.

Well, by looking at the completed auctions, even for bare casings, I can see the law of supply/demand in full effect.

My best bet is to watch for a "buy it now" option from somebody who thinks he has a common 70 alternator.

The alternator I guess will have to wait.

I'm going to go order some reproduction factory side pipes to make myself feel better.

              Thank you Gentlemen.
