    C1 Aftermarket Headers

I thought about putting a set of aftermarket headers on my 1961 driver. I'm going to be doing this when I pull the old non-original 350 out and put in a new RamJet 350 crate motor. Can anyone make a recommendation on a good header that doesn't require me to modify my frame? Thanks, JB

JB, Corvette Central sell Tight Tuck Headers, They sell for $309.00, They look great !!
The only problem that I could see is that I don't think they will flow anywhere near as good as a proper set of tuned length pipes.
But if your after a nice note and better performance these would be a better choice than the Chevy horns that you are using now.

I did the Ramjet conversion in a 62 Corvette a few years ago and used the stock 2 1/2" Rams horn exhaust manifolds.
They worked great, engine ran fine and dyno tested fine.
      They looked good, no leaks.

Check out Summit Racing or Jegs, they both handle a variety of headers for C1's. Headman headers have always been a good economical header, Hooker is another good brand. I run Headman ceramic coated on my 62. No mods need to be done to the car except the usual cutting a good exhaust pipe in half to hook up to the collector. Most muffler shops can make you new ones if you take an old one in and show them what you want.

make sure you get coated headers as they will help cut some of the heat down that comes thru the thin wall tubing. i would recommend getting them coated inside and out side. remember that long tube headers will be right under your feet

while you're at it, pull up the carpet and insulate the floorboard with HushMat. Read my article coming in the next Restorer about the floorboard insulation testing I did on the road tour to St.Charles this summer. Gary....

Justin, depending upon the heads you may need the larger primary tubes. I once put a ZZ3 in a '60 and used the larger tube Hooker ceramic coated headers. They worked well with the D shaped exhaust port heads. Ted
