    Re: NOS 63 MC cap

    John;

    Weren't these same caps found on a number of passenger cars during that period? If so, say it was a couple years of Chevies, there could be a large junkyard source out there. Now if it was a correctly dated MC, then he'd have something. It took me many years to find one for mine which had been stolen. My son had bought me a cap several years ago on E-Bay thinking that was all I needed to re-convert the 64 unit I had to a 63 (if only).

      the 64 and 64 chevy pass car master cylinders have a 1" bore, as opposed to the 63 and 64 vette master cylinders with a 7/8" bore. the bores diameters are cast into the snout of the respective master cylinders so judges will catch a pass car master cylinder on a vette. the caps from the pass car master cylinders will, however, substitute for the vette cap.mike

        Re: NOS 63 MC cap

        Please reread my question Stu and Dr. Mike. Pay attention.
        I know the application. Just want to know if you guys and girls could tell from the pics on ebay if these NOS MC caps are possible fakes or real.
        I have a NOS 64 steel Chevy master cylinder and the cap on it was identical to the Corvette. Now the word identical is the key word in that I don't know if the height of the lettering is the same. The lettering heigh thing is something I learned from Duane and Jimmy at the Marlborough regional in 06. Never heard such a thing before that.
        Meanwhile still looking for a good answer to my good post. Thanx, JD
        Sorry I couldn't plug the ebay numbers on so you can all click on them.

          Re: NOS 63 MC cap

          John;

          I'm almost afraid to add in another two cents on this subject, but I did look at both the E-Bay listing and my own three caps. I have two that have 11/64" high letters, and one with 9/64" high letters. The one with the 9/64" letters came from Lonestar with the M/C as purchased. The other two caps were bought off E-Bay from two different sellers. The one shown currently on E-Bay under 370113011935 appears to have the 9/64" high letters. If I were a betting man, with 50/50 ods, I'd put my money on the cap with the 9/64" letters as being legit - but we'll need one of our experts to confirm that.

          Sorry I can't help any more than that (damn beit to the thieves).
