    C1 original head bolt markings?

    Hi guys,

MCRS member Mark pellowski and I recently pulled the heads and intake on my fuelie so I can install the correct ones.can you take a look at the pic and tell me if these head bolts look original to a 59? The one I'm really concerned about is on the far left, since it doesn't have the same sort of raised circle around the edge. It has a raised circle, but the shape of the head is taller and flatter than the others. The flat one has what looks liek an "E" in the center, the others have an "A", a "U" (or a "C"), a "symbol and a cross between a a symbol that looks like an "E" with a flat base. They all look equally deteriorated in my view.

Also,a couple are just a tad longer than the others. Would that be in the range of normal vendor variation?

If some of those those aren't original, do you think the repops from Paragon would pass snuff?

    Sorry for the pic quality.

BTW, these are bolts from the sides of the head, visible while it's mounted. Could some folks check out the head son their 58-60 corvettes and see if they look similar, especially if you see some that look like the one on the far left of the picture?

These are the short cylinder head bolts and we need to know if they used head bolts other than the ones with an "O" on them. If so, would they ever have used different bolts on the same engine ? The medium and long bolts all had the same "O" marking. I bought a full set of cylinder head bolts from Paragon and the set cost $40 and all have the "O" on them.

Ian - weren't there also head bolts with flat heads without markings ?
