    Antifreeze question

Had to replace my waterpump this week.

I have a few cases of this Air Brake Antifreeze.
Would like to use this in my 63 if this is OK, or if I should just dispose of it.

It was given to me a long time ago - I now want to use it or toss it.
    Label reads:
Contains Methanol (CAS #67-56-1) and Ethylene Glycol (CAS #107-21-1)

Is this the same as regular automotive AF?
    Is it a suitable substitute?

    Thanks

No, it's not the same. I would not use any anti-freeze that contains methanol in any passenger car application. Seems a waste to toss it, though. Maybe you can find a trucker with air brakes that could use it.

      Kinda what I thought.
really a shame - I have 2 cases - These have been taking up space for too long now.

      Thanks for the quick response.

If you have a CB radio and live near an Interstate, you will have no trouble getting rid of it. Dale

Many times, smaller contractors and excavators will have trucks old enough to have use for it. Later trucks do not require AB/AF.

            Jeff:

I agree it's a shame to toss it. Put it on Craig's List and see what happens. It won't cost you anything to list it.

There's also waste exchanges where you can sell it like www.recycle.net/recycle/ and some States have thier own programs.

Not going to toss it - there is a Freightliner / Mac Truck dealer down the street from my workshop.
Going to drop it off there.

Right after I stop to buy more antifreeze for the 63

On the "Ice Road Truckers" series they used that stuff all the time. Of course they had temperatures of -40. At that temperature Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same.
