    Luggage Rack

Does anyone know of an accesory luggage rack for a midyear convertible?

Paragon has two models for the C3. Anyone tried one of these on a C-2?

Plan on doing some road trips next season and would love to be able to carry a suitcase for HER STUFF!!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving to All.

      Re: Luggage Rack

Looking back, wish now that I had never installed a luggage rack on my 70 back in 1975. Back then it was our primary driver since the 68 did not have air conditioning. Installed the rack just to carry more for upcoming trips from Dallas to the west and east coasts and used it.
Only used it for one suitcase and only for a few years. Looking back now after all these years of non use, wish I had not installed it.
Had the chance in 1990 to fill in the luggage rack holes when I repainted my 70 but did not do it because of the chance of my repair not holding up well over later years and showing in the paint. My 70's coupe luggage rack has not been used to carry anything for many years since it retired from being a primary driver.
Another thing I did do was protect the chome finish on my rack when I used it on the trips to the west and east coast from Dallas. I placed tape on the contact areas of the luggage to protect the chrome finish, really glad I did that.

Starting in 1965, there WAS a dealer installed luggage rack option for Corvette (coupe version and convertible version). You don't see them very often and they're kind of ugly compared to what was offered for C3 cars. The rack attached to the rear deck AND had support legs that wrapped over the deck to install on the rear bumpers...

c-3 racks totally dissimilar to the dealer installed critters for the 65 up vettes. as jack stated, the c-2 rack mounted in four places, the two fronts going thru the rear top surround(on hinges) and the two rear legs which mount thru rear bumpers. think i have an extra one is ya gotta drill hoes in your convert(which i wouldn't do)mike

              Steve,

Have had this one on my 67 since 1969, it was aftermarket for a 68:

There are six holes drilled through the fiberglass, 4 in the rear, 2 in the front. Very handy on long trips with luggage, but a pain when you get gas. The gas cap clears the two center bars but you have to unload the rack to get gas.

                  Steve,

Get the Stainless Steel one. Mine is chrome over steel, which is in good shape, but shows a little pitting and wear after 39 years on the car.

Steve I have attached photo's of the rack that was installed on my 67, on Dec. 13 or 14, 1966, by the selling dealer prior to the original owner accepting delivery on Dec. 14. The rack is presently on the car in it's original excellent condition. I do periodically use it.
