Carb Question For My 63

Does any know when looking for the correct carburetor, is there a general rule of thumb with the NCRS, how close should the carburetor be dated to your engine build. I have been told 6 months from the engine build date, but I am not sure if this is correct.

The issue you are missing is that the carb was installed at St Louis. That means it is correlated to the car build date, not the engine date. The 6 months date would go back from the car build date, based on the VIN number. The 6 months back was established to give a generous window, typical production typically 2-3 weeks or less.

Dickey just didn't read the question for he KNOWS the correct answer! Bill is correct in the fact that you want the carb as well as other accessories on the engine before the build date of the car. NCRS does give a very generous window for those dates which IS 6 months BEFORE the build date of the car. More realistic dates would be, as Bill says two to three weeks before the car was built.

Bill and Joe Thanks. My car was built the second week of May. I found a carb from a person that would sell me one that it is dated mid April, but he wants a arm and a leg for it. I really appreciate for information you both have given me. This will help me in my rjourney in finding one. Thanks again. Because, I do plan on bring my car to the next level.
