wiper door actuator saftey switch

i got a new wiper door safety sw, with vacume on should there be vacume at the vent at all times? or should the vacume go away when plunger is pushed in? i think i have a bad sw.

The switch mounted to the fire wall only allows the wipers to work if the wiper door is open. The switch is adjustable by screwing the trumpet shaped screw in or out. My experience this switch is not tied to the vacuum at all.

Hi Richard,
Are you asking about the interlock switch under the right side wiper arm?
If so, to test that switch with the switch removed from the vehicle, attach a vacuum pump to the WHITE port and do not push the plunger in. This WHITE port should be closed and maintain vacuum pressure, while the unmarked and RED marked ports should be open. Note that the RED is always open regardless of the position of the plunger. This info is from Dr. R's Trouble Shooting Guide. You should think about purchasing the Dr's Guide, it's really a big help for a few $$.

Gene the new sw does not have the screw that one is dics from gm i wish it did. Alan yes i am talking about the interlock sw i will test tomorrow thanks four help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
