    59 balancer and pulley question

Can someone provide me with the part number for a '59 283/270 crank pulley and even better provide me with a photo of what the pulley and balancer looks like? Thanks.

Garry - The pully is GM #3756328. I will try to attach photos but this is my first try.

Re: 59 balancer and pulley question

Bob, there is a balancer and pulley on ebay right now that is a passenger car balancer for 1959. The pulley looks similar but the balancer has several holes around the perimeter and yours shows no holes. Could there possibly be two that would be correct? Here's the link.

        Thanks.

Garry - According to the 1953 thru 1982 Corvette Parts Catalog the balancer for 57-61 and 62-65 (EXC. SP. H/PER., F.I., 396) calls for part #3896904. That being said, I am not sure where the number would be stamped and I can't see the part number on my balancer.

I did not rebuild the engine, it was done by the previous owner. Tom was very maticulous about correct parts so I am reasonably sure I have the correct balancer.

Maybe someone with a little more experience could chime in here.

If memory serves, the version of the balancer with the 'woodpecker' holes around the outer circumference began showing up in 1966...

Garry, the TM&JG shows a different balancer for the '59/'60 270hp and 290hp engines. Take a look at the attached page. This may help. Ted

Hi Ted. Thanks for the pics. The last sentence says it all. Replacements have the holes around the edge.
