    I remember your post now that you mention it. My car is 300HP but I see what you are talking about.

      Yup, all 62, 63 and early 64's with 8" balancer, have an incorrect timing tab. The tab is actually the same tab used for a 6" balancer so the timing marks mean nothing. Their incorrect. The only part of the tab that is correct is the "0", or TDC.
      For those cars, if the timing is set to 12* on the timing plate, the timing is actually only at about 9*.

      I would use the tape method for both base idle and full advance adjustments.
