    F41

While installing a fuel tank, I counted 7 leaf springs. The JM among other books denotes 7 leafs as part of the F41 suspension. The car has no rear sway bar and the front sway bar is a 3/4" unit. Its all original components under the car. Shouldn't it have 9 leaf springs? Its a '70 conv. 350/350 W/AC late June build. Thanks

I'd say the spring has been previously replaced. For one thing, F-41 suspension was not even available in the 1970 model year except as part of the ZR-1 performance package. All of those cars were equipped with LT-1 engine and not an L-46.

Second, F-41-equipped cars also had 15/16" front sway bars.

Third, and probably most significant, the 7 leaf spring was sold by GM for many years as a SERVICE replacement for the 9 leaf.
