    1978 Pace Car # 4407 Purchase order found.

    1978 Pace Car. Sold from the Rossburg / Celina, Ohio area in 1979 to the Glass Car Company in Springfield, MO.

    I was just going through some old boxes here at the dealership and found a sale order for this car. 78 Pace Car # 4407. It shows the price and date sold with 3.4 miles on it. Dated 6-24 of 79. I would be glad to forward this document to the current owner for no charge. Just prove it's your car and it's yours.

    I also found the original window stickers for 79 Corvette VIN # 9S435541 Black on Black L48 auto.

    Also window sticker for 80 Corvette VIN # AS432574 Red / Black L82 / Auto.

    Hopefully I can find a home for these.

    Tom,
    For this reason I'd really like the NCRS to assist the hobby by providing a way to make this information available. There is lots of real factory and dealer paperwork out there with no real way to re-unite it with the car. With all the interest in paperwork it would be a great way to help. Maybe a tab on the home page like the dealer codes.

      That is a great idea. Over the years I've had tons of original paperwork for some neat cars and have never been able to hook them back up with the car, except for one.

        Tom,
        I too have had - and still have many pieces with VIN numbers on them. Until last week I have been unsuccessful on many attempts to reunite important paperwork over an extended period of time. Through some detective work I was able to reunite a glovebox package to a 72 owner but it involved a numerous pieces of luck to do it. It was the exception.

          What we really need is a centralized database that tracks these sort of things by VIN. I am not necessarliy suggesting that NCRS set up and maintain this database, just that such a database needs to be established.

          I know there was an attempt many years ago to set up something similar to this at the National Corvette Museum. Time, available server space, and lack of personnel put a hold on this effort.

          I have the tank sticker (in nice shape) for a 72 coupe. I don't recall the VIN right now, but it is on the tank sticker. I placed an ad on Ebay stating that I would give it to the current owner. Also placed a notice on this web site, CorvetteForum, etc. Nothing.

          If the entire Corvette community can agree of the location, posting and inquiry rules, who will fund the server storage, etc. this is an easy fix.
          Just preload it with the VIN of every Corvette ever built.

            Tom (and others);

            It would be helpful when this kind of information is put forth if you could advise what your Geographic location is. Reason being, although perhaps known by others, sometimes a clue rings a bell (boing!). As a for instance, my son has owned 3 different Pace Cars over the past few years. I don't know their s/n's off hand, but I recall some of the history as to where they came from and if you told me Canada, Pa. or Ga. it would ring a bell for me and I would contact him, etc.

              Ed,
              I totally agree. I suggested the NCRS because the the membership and leadership are into this sort of thing and they have the resources and passion to do it. I'm not sure who else could pull it off. The museum might be another possibility as you mention. It just seems like a needed facet of the hobby.

                Hi Stu:

                My location is in my profile, but the car was sold from the Celina / Rossburg, Ohio area and was sold to The Glass Car Company in Sprinfield, MO in 1979.

                Hope this helps.

                  Tom;

                  Thanks. I'll point it out to my son.
