Joe:

What can you tell me about this part number GM#3923971? Like production versus service, etc.

I picked up a box of 79 parts and among them is a spark plug wire bracket that bolts to the back of the block and supports the plug wire rubber grommet. The finish is a nice satin black with a drip mark at the end and if the number is correct for the 78-79 period...well, it would be instructive. Thanks.

GM #3923971 is the left side lower spark plug wire support bracket used in PRODUCTION and available in SERVICE for 1968 through 1982 Corvettes. It attaches to the block with a single 1/4-20 hex head screw and a rubber grommet with 4 in-line holes for the plug wires fits into the bracket. Every one I've ever seen was dip-painted semi gloss black.

It's still available in SERVICE from GM for about 8 bucks, GM list.
