i want to put a correct numbers 265 engin in my 1956 vett but can not find the born on date my ser.number is E56S003252 would be thankfull for any help

Mark, according to the birthday book, you car #3252 was asssembled on June 30, 1956. It just happens to be the same day that #3241 was assembled which is a '56 that I once owned and restored.

I know the Birthday book has undergone numerous revisions, but it is important to remember that 1956 the end of month production numbers records have never been located (if they ever existed).

The dates in the birthday book for 1956 production are best estimates, based on analysis of existing original cars and rates of production.

The really frustrating part is that a man who worked at the plant in 1956 apparently kept detailed records of production in a personal notebook. We just can't get our hands on the information.

Production began in early January, 1956. Unlike successive years, monthly production totals are not available for 1956. Only one actual production date for this model year is known for certain. Chevrolet service bulletin DR-265 indicates that E56S003844, the 2844th 1956 Corvette, was assembled August 8, 1956.

A good reference is the data contained in Research Project 56/57 by Michael Hunt. The 1956 portion of this survey was published in the May, 1996 issue of Vette Vues magazine. This is a compilation of more than one hundred 1956 serial numbers with not only production dates, but in several instances cylinder case casting dates and engine stamp pad serial numbers. Mark, Your car was built 34 after my 3218. I have judged 3222 in Osage Beach in 1997. There is another '56 in our stable it is 2765. Both are resting in the snowy north (indoors).

Mark, I guess I should have put all of the caveats into my first bit of birth date information for you. The other posters are correct. There are many factors that are somewhat unique to the '56 model year. Unfortunately, it is for the most part all we have for guidelines and I suspect that it is all we will ever have for the marque. I too have some of the Mike Hunt data and have tried to sort it out, but I still come up with a range of about +/- 2 to 3 days.
