Re: C1 exhaust tips
On my '60, which has an all-GM exhaust system, the tail pipes don't extend beyond the bumper. They terminate inside the bumper opening. And, of course, they smoke up the bumper somewhat.
I'd bet money that any solid axle car with tail pipes that extend out of the bumpers has owner-added extensions, put on to prevent smoking up the bumper chrome.

Re: C1 exhaust tips
Stewart, Jim is correct, originals didn't go beyond the bumper. Alot of the owners run them slightly past (i.e. 1/2") to keep moisture out of the bumpers. My '58 had them about 2" out of the bumper and we just cust them back to about 1/2" to make them look better. Even with them at 2" or so I didn't received deducts for them at chapter, regional, or national. The judging gods were good to me. Hope this helps, Ted

Hmmm I don't like that black muck on my chrome. I will try some home made jobs. Thanks for the responses.- Top

Re: C1 exhaust tips
Originals did not extend. But most everyone let's them go ut a hair to save the bumpers as I did on recently installed system.- Top
