Hi everyone. Here are pics I got from Richard Fortier showing his preliminary 1st design 70-71 repo tips. Look pretty damn impressive so far!!

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
Pat,
During the time that Richard owned Paragon, they had the reputation for the best reproduction parts on the map. Paragon was very specialized in their approach to the reproduction market and didn't try to be a "one stop shop" for everything Corvette.

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
Confirming Richard's philosophy; I was at his shop a couple weeks ago and saw these p/types. These should be an excellent match with the exhaust system from Gardner...Don Lowe

His tips look great. I can even see the bit of a dent on the interior above the tube insert. My original has the same dent. Amazing

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
Any estimated price yet? I have to decide whether to restore mine or depending on he price, replace them. It will require a lot of time to even see if I can save my originals. No rust issues. Bubba welded the exhaust to the tips.- Top

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
Thanks, Pat, for posting the photos! I got the same email and photos from Richard a couple of nights ago and was going to post them a few minutes ago when I saw your post. Like you (and others) I was impressed with what I saw. I am anxious to see production of the 1st design and introduction of the 2nd design.
Richard discussed a ballpark price. I found it to be competitive to what buyers are paying on eBay for OEMs but his are new.
Please feel free to email Richard and offer comments. He looks forward to feedback. That tells me he is wanting constructive input. richfortier@chartermi.net

Do you know when he will have some ready or when he will sell them? I was wondering if he has a "waiting list" of any sort?
Thanks,

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
Greg, the best thing to do is email Richard and get his input about production runs, how many can be produced at what rate, and cost. He did give me a ballpark figure but it wouldn't be fair to him for me to disclose it. However, put another way I have asked him to put me on his list for a set of 1st design tips. Given what I have seen a pair of nice OEM 2nd design tips go for on eBay I would rather pay his price for his. OEM 1st design tips are impossible to find and I need a passenger's side only.- Top

Re: Fortier First Design Repo Tips
I just sent Richard pictures of my original tips 1st design. I am curious to see if he thinks they can be saved. At a minimum he can take a close look at the welding around the perimeter of the rear. It is not nearly as nice as the pictures he provided of his tips.
The bead is not uniform at all on the originals.
If I knew how to post thumb nails I would post pictures here.
Kindest Regards,
Bill
Oops! Just realized he had not yet welded his prototype- Top
