    Hoodsheet loose of frame

    Hi
I would like to know wich kind of glue/mastic used in bonding the hood sheet together with the hoodframework.I have the parts start separating from each other.

Looks like some kind of black SikaFlex

Pls let me know if anybody have had the same problem.

I reglued my 65 hood frame back to the hood. I took the hood off car. Used foam blocks carved to fit under hood laid upside down on carpet for support and to make level. I used a 100% solids 2 part epoxy I had from work. Used bakers frosting paper cone to squeeze the epoxy into/between frame and hood in places it was loose after placing small wooden wedges between to create space. I would say J-B Epoxy would be a good choice. I placed gallon milk jugs full of wet sand on top to hold everything down till epoxy cured. I placed sranwrap plastic over glue so I could make it contoured to edges w/o making a mess. There are probably several glues that can be used. A boat/marine supply house might be a good place to ask.

The hood inner panel is only "bonded" to the inside of the outer panel around the outer periphery of the hood; the material found between the bracing on the inner panel and the inside of the outer panel wasn't "bond" - it was a slow-curing adhesive, called "gumdrops" back in the day. "Bond" wasn't used, as the heat produced when it "kicked" could cause highly-visible localized distortions ("bond-burn") in the flat outer surface of the hood.
