    Horn Button not fitting

I have just purchased a new horn button for my 1960 from Paragon. It doesn't fit on my horn contact.
After close examination of the old one, I have noticed it has been machined at the back to fit.
Here are photos of the horn contact which looks like it has been machined down as well. The new horn button bottoms out on the cotact and doesn't move when on. Can someone think of a reason why someone would machine down the back of the cap and the contact. Doesn't make sense. horn cap no2.jpg

Here is a picture of the horn contact. It only measures 1/4 '' of an inch and the correct contact should be 1/2'' an inch. Why would it be machined.

The white plastic "buttons" in the horn contact are not typical of what I've seen on 56-62--they are too tall. That would explain the need to machine down the horn button to allow it to snap into the perimeter retainers.

Just use a larger hammer. Horn buttons are made by Trim Parts from the original molds. Horn contacts are made over there!

I had the same problem. Did more scrounging and found a good original horn contact. That is where the problem is. If you replace the turn signal mechanism, you will spend HOURS making that work, I did not, good luck. Since I could not make it function correctly and I found a good used one, that worked. The repo is marked CC on the back and it needs more engineering to make it function correctly.

Boy, I have been messing with this situation since summer. I believe what I am hearing is that the reproductions will not work without additional 'engineering', is that true? The horn button may be useable but not with the reproduction horn adapter. Do you think the vendor will allow returns?

              David,

If you purchased from CC they are VERY good on returns. Just return the item with the original paper work or a copy and they will credit your account.

The repo horn button will work with no problems. At least if did for me. But the horn contact would not work for me. I had bought mine through Paragon and had no trouble returning it. Good people.

The original contact should be 1/2 inch in depth when measured to the claws with the dimples. I think if I buy a repo contact or a NOS it should work. The one I have is only 1/4 inch. So the new one having a deeper claw should work it won't bottom out. I'll have a chat to Paragon on this one and will let you guys know how it pans out. This car is fighting me, but I will beat it.
