    64 Trim Tag ?

    Hi all,

Just a general question regarding my 64 trim tag. Can someone tell me what the lettering above BODY BY CHEVROLET represents? I am wondering if it was something stamped by the dealer once the vehicle was received and inspected. Curious minds want to know....

    Thanks very much,
    Craig

Delivery date stamped by the dealer. Dealers were instructed to do this, some did and some did not. Discussion about this same innsue in tha archives a week or so ago.

Yes. My 63 is double stamped which has always been questioned, but the answer is very simple; the dealer expected me one week, but I could not get back on leave until the next.

They were supposed to stamp delivery date on the VIN tag That's what the "DD" was for. Unfortunately, as the welds often broke loose, they applied stamp to the much softer trim tag.

Chev Service News revised stamping directions in Aug 1964 (still to be on VIN tag).

Not sure when the DD vin tags first began

Can someone decipher the dealer date stamp on my trim tag?

          Thanks,

Well, we know the car was built on July 6, 1964. It was also delivered in 1964, probably on the 7th day of the month, but I can't tell what month? Is that a Zero, an O or a bad looking 8? Do you have the original Warranty Book, should be in there also.

Harry it's a O and my delivery date in the warranty book is the 18th. Having the privilege of talking to the original owner multiple times he said he picked up his newly ordered car on the 18th of July. I assume it could represent the dealer received the car on the 10th. Just a guess. The original owner of this car was a paperwork hound. He saved everything. I have been very fortunate in the fact he has provided these precious documents as he eventually locates them . Lucky me.

                Thanks,
