    Window Sticker zip code confusion

My window sticker that came with my car has incorrect information. It reads:
    Northside Chevrolet INC
    1045 broad Ripple Ave
25375 Indianapolis INd. zip code 25375 is west virgina not Indiana. Did these things happen then?

Is the number to the left of the city the dealer number or the zip? I thought it was the zip because there is no other 5 digit number near the address

The number(s) to the left is the dealer and zone number(s). It looks like one number but is actually two (one two digit and one three digit).

Ok, Now I see Mine is the same with no zip to the right. I just typed that number into the dealer zone lookup and the dealer listed on window sticker came up. Thanks for the help.

Bruce - The ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) Code is interesting because we all have come so use to the ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) Code being on everything we see with an address that we think it was always there, but in fact even though the system was proposed by a Postal employee in the 40s, it wasn't untill July 1, 1963 that the USPO announced a non-mandatory ZIP Codes and then made them mandatory in 1967 for 2nd and 3rd Class bulk mail and then shortly after they were generally adopted for all mail.

              I agree
I see a lot of fake POP'S for 65,66 &67 with zip codes. Most dealers did not change till the late 60'S.
