    C4 Seat Track Questions

I purchased a very used '96 LT4. The passenger seat adjuster suffers from the common stripped plastic gears problem. GM list two separate part numbers for the driver and passenger seat adjusters (oft referred to as the seat track). I was expecting them to be the mirror image of one another but the two adjusters (tracks) in my car are identical. Since the adjuster assemblies do not have the part number stamped on them anywhere I can't tell if I have the correct parts in my car. Since they are both configured the same, I suspect that a previous owner replaced one of them with a track for the opposite seat. My questions are:

    - Is my assumption correct - i.e. the seat adjuster/tracks should be the mirror image of one another?
    - If this assumption is correct, is the gear housing supposed to be on the outboard or inboard side of the seat?

    Thanx in advance,

    Re: C4 Seat Track Questions

    Floyd,

I to have problems with my seats. Tomorrow I will look to try to answer your inboard and outboard questions. I can't answer your other questions but would also be interested in a response.

Not sure about a 96, but the seat tracks for a 90 are identical and can only be installed one way. Also, t htink this the part number is stamped on one of the front mounting brackets along with the date of manufacture.
