    When We Were Young With Our Corvettes -Epilog

    To all;

    It’s not living in the past. It’s using your past to excite and energize tomorrow’s projects, activities, adventures and some kind of plan even if you don’t quite follow through. When you get older, we need to find reasons to get up in the morning and stay busy. My kids don't understand this yet.

    But fact is, these experiences neither qualify under “Technical” nor “Discussion” on this Board. Our Moderators have been very patient and since the stories get good readership, they’ve held their breath. My thanks for that.

    And thanks to those who have gotten some brief pleasure, whether felt or said, from these silly times past in /near an old Corvette.

    And to those I’ve offended my apologies.

      I think no one was offended (yet)... I enjoyed your stories although I didn't always knew the celebrities you referred to (I'm too young I'm afraid).

      regards,
      Rob.

        I enjoyed the stories and memories. The reality is that every time we get in these old Corvettes we are 18 again. Isn't that one of the reasons we own them.

            Thanks for the stories. I certainly wasn't offended and can't understand how anyone could be.

              Bill;

              I don't believe anyone could or would be offended by the re-living of all good memories - least of all me. I love it and feel we did indeed live in the best of times and can all be grateful for it. Perhaps the younger members didn't appreciate them, but then no one made them read them and it's not as if they took up their space.

              The comment that I made that you said caused you to re-think, as you said, was in the vein of "how could anyone top that", like wow!

              It was great fun. Thanks.

                Great series of stories, really enjoyed it.

                Maybe this is why we need a non-technical discussion board.

                I am building my latest project, a 56 Corvette that I am turning into a rat rod for many of the reasons that became apparent while reading your stories. I have a sign that I stick on the dash when I park somewhere. It says: "No, it's not for sale, and no I ain't gonna paint it". I might re-think the no paint plan, depends on whether I can paint it in my driveway or not.

                My plan is to have a 56 Vette that I can hop into and safely drive across country, but don't have to worry about paint chips, scratches, etc. I graduated from the Dale Pearman school of Corvette fun.

                  Loved them. I think a Part 2 is needed. For those of us who never got to drive our vettes back in the 60's, it is great to read about those that did. Thanks.

                    I really appreciate you sharing your memories with us. I also think that it is appropriate to put them in the forum as it is now. If we have a "non-technical discussion board" a lot of members would miss out on some discussion because they would tend to stay on one board or the other. I know that this happens to me on other forums that I am on.
                    Thanks again, Fenwick

                      Bill,

                      If you have other installments, please consider posting them on Corvette Forum or one of the other sites. A lot of people enjoyed this stroll down memory lane.

                        Bill, I think Epilog is premature. Why would we want to no longer bring back the memories we and others have of the times we had with our Corvettes---and hear the adventures of others. While growing up in NE Indiana I used to dream of living in California and driving a Corvette along Pacific Coast Highway---especially during Sept.-April when the sky was usually gray. Anyway, I don't believe any of us want this to be the end. We get great enjoyment from remembering what we did back then and what others did. Don't stop now!

                              Bill -

                              Us 'old' Corvette guys love to remember the great times we had in these cars back when they were drivable. I put a lot of miles on 1962, #12332, in the snow, ice, rain with and without a top, hauled lumber, dirt, landscaping plants and loved every minute of it. I will say that is a good thing to share, who knows, someone may have some individual car history for us.
