When We Were Young With Our Corvettes-Your Opnion

    Let me position things first.

    1) The stories are absolutely true
    2) Chapters 1-7 had cumulative views totaling 2,617 (not unique hits) for an average of 374 ea.

    4) I think everyone recognizes and accepts that a very large portion of our viewers are here for technical discussion in the strict sense and have limited or no interest in early stories about these cars, but instead go to amazon.com for that.

    So, the question is:

    Yea or nay?

Thank you, and above all else, have a very Happy New Year ! (Don't take the old ones out after dark....Vettes I mean)

Bill, yes most of us come to the TDB for tech. info. but we do it because of an interest in our cars and the part of our lives these cars represent. I more then enjoy your posts and the memories they bring to mind. I also feel many others do and we look forward to them. I have seen a number of members supporting your posts, not may complaints. If you are concerned about the content not including tech. info just include some. Many of our memories of our cars include tech. situations, info., etc. --- specs., "testing", how they ran, even the colors that attracted others (OK that may be a stretch, but interesting.)

    Simply---Keep it up!

WHAT! Don't take your Vette out tonight after dark? Can you think of a better way to enjoy fireworks than being out in your Vette with the top down? Of course I'm in Florida so I may just need a jacket.

I'm a vote FOR as I like the stories and love to tell them - old war stories too.

Bill, I had missed a couple of your chapters, not because of a lack of interest, but simply got busy during a couple of the postings. I went to your profile today, searched your "threads started", and enjoyed reading every one.
As I've stated before, when comments have been leveled by a minority of people who get offended by non-technical posts,......the thread title, lets the viewer know if the thread is about a roller lifter discussion, or sharing stories about driving Corvettes in the 1960s. Anyone who wishes to not read non-technical posts, can easily pass them up. I think quite often, people grow weary of self-appointed, internet cops.
As a person who was born in southern California in the mid 1950s, I love your stories. I hope you keep them up.
Wishing you and your family, as well as all the fellow members of the NCRS, a very Happy New Year. Ridge.

              Hi Bill,
              I vote YES, too.
Some of my happiest days (and evenings) were spent in my 71 when it was new and I was a lot closer to new.
If only I didn't know now what I didn't know then!!!
              HAPPY NEW YEAR
              Regards,
              Alan

I vote yes. What good is having these cars, if you can't tell stories about them.

I also vote yes! Reading old Corvette stories are almost as fun as driving one. We in the north have all winter to read, because we can't drive. Barry Holmes

Lets hear some more stories as it brings back my own fond memories of the great drivin' days gone bye.

I am sure this has been thrashed before, and please don't take this as criticism those who work hard to maintain the site. I wouldn't know where to start to do this type of thing, and I appreciate the effort. That being said, my observation would be that virtually all car-related club sites have- at the very least- (1) non-technical, (2) parts for sale, and (3) cars for sale forums.

I realize that we are first and foremost a technically-focused group, but it seems to me that we would be well-served by such forums. It might make the Driveline smaller, but I don't think it would kill it, if that is a concern. I'm a member of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club, and its site contains all of these forums, although not nearly as much activity is seen there as on the NCRS tech board. Something like the "Corvette Forum" obviously draws a lot of non-informative, non-productive posts, but with limited member access, that is not an issue for us.

So yes, that's a yes vote.

For gosh sakes, if you don't want to read it, don't click on it. For example, I almost never open any of the C1 and C3 and above posts because I don't have one. Do I want them removed from here, heck no. I just ignore them. Unless we are running out of server space because of non-technical posts, I think we should keep them. It reminds us all of the fact that these were once "regular" cars that were enjoyed for their driving, rather than stored and admired. I loved the stories and think this site is better for having them!! I hope they continue.

My sentiments exactly. Keep the stories coming. If someone doesn't want to read them, nobody is forcing them. I'm a C-1 guy and read almost all threas relating to C-1's, but I'm not knocking anybody else for their favorites.
                            Just my $.02 worth.
