Many people know I'm into detail and compare original parts to repro's. Like many here do also // like the air cleaner wing nuts. But so many people buy repro's because it's easier , look good and the JM don't cover much detail . This part on e-bay will probably not sell because the cost is near a repro price but is real and original . The {line} for indicating the gear location is quite different then a repro for the (FEW) that know,
If you have a 53-55 compare your's to it, I put a better pic. Up of the Original for you to compare if your using a repro. Just a little thing to mention but don't most people wont the real thing.

PS: also the color or tint of a repro is not correct.

A great question nice to have you ask.
I'm not sure but think the 53 was whiter then later more beige tinted knobs were . It may be the reason the repro's are all vary white in color , I'm sure you've seen a more beige looking knob on unrestored Corvettes and it's not because of time. Other wise they are all the same in design as seen here.

Roy, good picture. The knob is just like mine (a known original), but my center hump doesn't have that nice wood trim like your picture.
