"OK CT" Ink Stamp On Radiator

What year did the "OK CT" ink stamp first appear on the top of aluminum radiators.
    I don't remember but wasn't it mid/late 64 or possibly 65?

Re: "OK CT" Ink Stamp On Radiator

Isn't there anyone out there that knows about original 63-64 radiator ink stamps? Have all the originals been replaced? Or is everyone avoiding this because they already have "OK CT" stamped on their radiator?
I'd really like to find out when this stamp first showed up in production.

Mike,on 63s I've only seen "OK" in grease crayon, written on the top of the radiator UNDER the black paint........don't know when the OK CT ink stamp started after 63. Bob

Kevin, my car's serial # is 21160. Most likely built with a day or so of each other. Would love to see a few pictures of yours.

              Cheers,

Re: "OK CT" Ink Stamp On Radiator

Ok, so far we've learned that the OK-CT stamp appeared at least as early as July 64 as noted by Kevin Willems. Has anyone ever seen an original stamp on a car built before Kevins July 64 car?

I have a pretty extensive list of absolutely untouched original 63's and a few 64's with their original radiators that do NOT have, and never did have, the white OK-CT ink stamp. Some/most of these are VERY well known cars. I've never seen an original 63 with the white OK-CT stamp.

I also have many factory photos of new 63's that do not have stamp.

I agree with Bob Jorjorian on the hand written green "OK", or what ever it was, that was UNDER the black paint. I've seen several that show traces/remains of these characters.
Sounds like this was the original method of marking the radiator before the OK-CT stamp appeared.

Does anyone disagree with what we have so far?

Yes, I think you are on the right track, Michael.
If I can locate the pics of my original mid-production '64 I will post.

Re: "OK CT" Ink Stamp On Radiator

I think I've asked the original question incorrectly. Instead of asking for proof that there was not a "OK-CT" stamp, I should asked if anyone can show proof that their original 63 early 64 radiator had OK-CT stamped on top.

I already have a LOT of proof that there were 63 and early 64's without the white OK-CT stamp.

Where are all the guys that have originals?

I'll post some interesting pic's later......

I just went upstairs and checked the original leaking radiator out of my 63 that and couldn't see any signs of a OK CT on it. (63B) John D.

Thanks JD. That's exactly what I would expect to see.

Thanks Cary. I forgot about that car. That would be a good example.

I just looked at a few pic's of the totally unrestored Lance Miller car and it definitely does not have OK-CT on the radiator. The car is in the 19,xxx VIN range.

Good to see ya here on the discussion board.

Correction... Throughout this thread, I've incorrectly refered to the stamp as OK-CT. The correct stamp is actually 16-CT. Brain fade, sorry.
Here's a pic of the stamp on the radiator.
